This summer, Friend Leaves blossomed in ways that filled me with gratitude and pride.
When I look at the crowns made of natural materials, the mandalas designed with flower petals, and the seeds gently tucked into soil by eager hands—I see more than activities. I see growth, healing, and confidence.
Children who joined our summer programs weren’t just making crafts; they were practicing social skills through teamwork, experiencing sensory regulation through touch and scent, and finding joy in creating something uniquely their own. A simple terrarium or flower crown became a reflection of calm, creativity, and resilience.
One of the highlights of 2025 has been the recognition of Friend Leaves beyond our workshops. I am proud to share that we have been accepted as a provider with Horizon ABA and Able Stars ABA. This means families seeking support for children on the spectrum will now have access to therapeutic horticulture as part of their care journey.
For me, this milestone is about more than contracts or titles—it’s about seeing therapeutic horticulture recognized as the meaningful, healing practice I’ve always known it to be.
Partnering with ABA providers allows us to bring the calm of nature directly into the lives of families who need it most.
As we close out the summer and look toward fall, Friend Leaves continues to grow like the very seeds we plant: slowly, steadily, and with purpose.
I am deeply grateful for every child, every family, and every partner who has joined us on this journey. Each season brings new lessons, new blossoms, and new ways to heal together.
Because this is more than gardening.
This is therapeutic horticulture. 🌿
